Located in downtown Albany, this building is a fusion between engineering and architectural elements. This museum is meant to stand out in the Capital Region’s historic downtown as a beacon of science and innovation for the modern age. As a Museum of Science Fiction and Speculative Media, the design was meant to reflect a complex junction of engineering and architectural systems that play into the lighting conditions inside. This can be seen in the 3 separate forms that make up the building parti. The large center atrium is flanked by two darker volumes that tease the users into a continual space of chiaroscuro created by the galleries and fenestration patterns.
