Starting with the decomposition of real-looking baby dolls, this studio was meant to challenge the typical architectural language in which we normally would design. The re-structuring of the dolls was done to get different scaling of detail moments that produced a set of different exterior surfaces that could be transformed into the diner. The initial massings were 3D scanned and then, with ZBrush, it was formed into a larger massing that is modularized and placed on the site in Miami. I wanted my diner to depict the liveliness and playfulness of Miami’s Latin culture and flare and decided to express this through color choice and programmatic layout.
By using glazing in areas facing the water as well as some moments on the roof to highlight the Miami sun, I was able to make full use of the waterfront’s prime location.
